Is there any .com like Craigslist that sells handmade jewelry and things?
I been to artfire.com and that site looks great. The problem is that I don’t want to end up shipping this to an fro across the country and hope the check doesn’t bounce. On craigslist people close by come and pick the stuff up. Then they can pay you in cash and there is no problem. Is there a website like that just for handmade things?
I can understand your hesitation with checks (if somebody is paying you with a check for an online transaction you should actually wait up to 2 weeks to make sure it clears both banks), but that that shouldn’t stop you from selling online.
You should set up a PayPal account if you want to sell online. All you need is a checking account which you can open online for free (I think bank of America has that option). Once you have PayPal its really easy to sell online, and you can usually just charge for shipping so you don’t lose money there really. Pay the extra for delivery conformation so that you’re protected if somebody said you didn’t ship something and you’ll be fairly well protected against people trying to scam you.
I don’t think there is a handmade site like Craigslist because most people are comfortable buying online and getting things shipped, thats where the buyers are. If your really interested in selling you have to conform to the way people want to buy which in this case is paying with paypal (not cash) and having things shipped to them.
